This 200-year-old mansion is ideally suited for a relaxing family or group break. Boasting extensive grounds with a large play area and woodlands, children will find plenty of space in which to vent excess energy. It?s also right on the shore of Derwentwater, which many say is the most picturesque lake in Britain, and has a waterfall in the grounds. The lake itself will keep you occupied for days - children can paddle while the more adventurous take part in a wide variety of watersports. Or catch the launch nearby and stop off at any of the six jetties to explore the shoreline. There is also a selection of spectacular walks to suit all levels.

From Keswick follow the signs to Borrowdale. the hostel is 2 miles south on the Borrowdale road, 100 metres on the left past the turn to Watendlath.
