Hostel Description
?Newtonmore,? in the Cairngorms National Park and the Highlands of Scotland, is the perfect base for outdoor activities, relaxing or touring.
Situated at the rear of Craigellachie House, our purpose built hostel has 3 bedrooms and sleeps a maximum of 14 (2 rooms of 6 and 1 room of 2.) However, any of the three rooms can be booked as a private room for two (or more) There are 3 showers, 3 toilets, a drying room, lots of hot water, a fully equipped kitchen, electric central heating and a lounge/dining area with a wood burning stove.
We have WiFi in all rooms in the hostel. Credit/Debit cards are not accepted at the hostel, pay using cash or cheque when you arrive.
Our hostel is designed for those who come to Scotland for a quiet peaceful holiday. We are a Visit Scotland 3* graded Hostel.
Remember this is a small hostel, we don't have a 'reception' and we may be out for a while. If this happens check the notice on the door, find your bed and make yourself comfortable. Fear not, we will catch up with you later on.

Hostel Directions
Location
The hostel is situated at the rear of the owners white house (Craigellachie House), at the junction of Main Street and Fort William Road. Look for the blue signs.
Train Newtonmore
If arriving by train, walk up Station Road for 1/2 mile until you meet the main road turn right and walk past the Esso Service Station. The hostel is another 200 yds. It's a pleasant walk and it will do you good, however, if it is pissing with rain we will collect you for free from Newtonmore Station. Call us if you want to be collected. There is no phone at Newtonmore Station so you will need a mobile.
Train Kingussie
Start walking, it's only 3 miles and will do you even more good than walking from Newtonmore Station, however if the rain is a problem , we will collect from Kingussie Station for a £5 fee. There is public telephone at Kingussie Station.
Bus (Citylink) from Inverness
Stop opposite the hostel at the Craig Mhor stop (now known as Monarch Apartments).
Buses from Edinburgh/Glasgow
Stop 200 yards away (the McPherson Museum stop).
Check In
PLEASE ARRIVE AFTER 15.00 HRS
Come to the BACK door of the white house and ring the large cowbell very loudly. Only myself and Kathryn run the hostel and we may be away for a short time or not available. If this is the case, check the notice on the hostel door and then make yourself at comfortable - it is not usually locked. We will catch up with you and sign you in when we get back.
