Hostel Description
In the spring you will see many birds .The arctic tern is loud on its nesting ground at the beach.The eagle,the king of birds,is sometimes flying above.Harlequin ducks swim in the river,loons and common loons are on the lakes.You will also find other species of birds for example golden plovers, ptarmigans, thrushes, snow buntings, white wagtails, wrens and wheatear.
In the lakes you will find trouts.
In good weather it would be a good opportunity to go hiking in the neighbourhood. A horseback riding tour is a nice way to enjoy the silence and the overgrown valley. It is an unique experience to row a kayak on the Mjóifjörður,fjord with the view of Drangajökull glacier amongst the seals and seabirds.After a busy day it is relaxing to take a bath in a natural hot spring.

Heydalur is a valley covered with birch bushes in Mjóifjörður in Ísafjarðardjúp in North West Iceland. It is located at the Highway Nr.61. The distances to the next town and villages are 130 km to Isafjörður ,90 km to Hólmavík and 150 km to Búðardalur.
