Hostel Description
Dunnet Head is great for walking, fishing (we sell fishing permits for the lochs
on the Head) and water sports in Brough Bay. There are WWII remains of the radar station, part of Dunnet Head is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and there are 34 archaeological sites. It is also a great place for wildlife -
puffins can be seen from May to July as well as many other birds. Seals bask
in Brough Bay behind the Dunnet Head Information Centre, and other cetaceans
are often seen in the Pentland Firth. The views from the 100m cliffs to Orkney and Cape Wrath are stupendous. Good surfing is possible on the Atlantic rollers at Thurso.
