Hostel Description
The B&B itself overlooks one of the oldest and most beautiful public gardens of the city, the Botanic Gardens, opened everyday to visitors.
Our rooms have all the furniture that you need and they are equipped with air conditioned and private bathrooms.
Spaces in common are: kitchen, dining room and terrace.
From here, it is just a short walk (or 2 min bus-ride) to the many interesting architectural monuments that Catania has to offer: the ruins of Roman and Greek amphitheatres, Roman spa baths, the Norman castle "Ursino", the Massimo Bellini Opera House, the Cathedral of Piazza Duomo and numerous Baroque churches just to name a few.
From the "Orto Botanico's" unique position in Via Etnea, it is possible to drive to the surrounding countryside of Mount Etna, Europe's highest active volcano, to visit the delightful towns and villages there and so taste genuine, home-produced foods and wines or visit locations such as Caltagirone, famous for its ceramic pottery or drive along the Riviera to Acicastello and Acitrezza and see the rocks that the "Cyclops" threw at an escaping Ulysses during his odyssey or visit the wonderful Taormina, which Oscar Wilde during his visit to Italy described as one of the most beautiful places he had seen.
