Argyle Backpackers' Hostel is situated in Argyle Place, in the suburb of Marchmont in Edinburgh. It lies on a small street just off the Meadows and is close to the University and the city centre. Nearby shops provide groceries as the hostel is self catering, although there is free tea and coffee. The citizens of Marchmont are varied, ranging from students to couples and children, and the visitors at the hostel are equally varied - though usually on a budget!

The hostel is run by Gerald or 'Jed' Cameron' and his friendly staff. Jed's interests include his children, good food, drink and his car! He is a familiar face around the hostel and lives just a few doors down the road. The hostel started out as a small business but over the past decade has increased dramatically, with many visitors dropping in for a few days and deciding to stay even longer.

Argyle Backpackers is situated in Marchmont, conveniently close to bus routes, university and slightly south of the city centre.
- Bus: To get to Argyle Backpackers from Waverley Station on Princes Street, catch the number 41 bus from the mound. Ask the bus driver to stop at Warrender Park Road (£1 bus fare - you need the correct change as none is given). The hostel is on Argyle Place which is just off Warrender Park Road, opposite the Argyle pub. It's about a 10 minute bus trip.
Walking: Alternatively, you can walk up the Mound and follow the street it leads on to (George IV Bridge) and then take the right fork. At the 'T' intersection, cross the road and take the path straight ahead (for pedestrians & cyclists only) through the Meadows (a large park in the middle of Edinburgh) until you reach Melville Drive. Cross this road and follow the street Argyle Place which is straight ahead. Argyle Backpackers is at the top on the left, opposite the Argyle pub. It's about 20 minutes walk.
