Book the Best Hostels in Spain (Seville)
You have to be a little careful when booking a hostel in Seville because the Spanish word for “inn” is “hostal” so there are budget hotels all over the city with hostal in their name but they don’t have cheap dorm rooms in most cases. Fortunately there are many actual hostels in Seville that will make your visit more affordable and more fun at the same time.
Seville is a fascinating city in the Andalusia region of Spain, and the Moorish/Muslim influences are everywhere. The street layout of most of the center of the city consists of thin roads that twist and turn in unpredictable ways, as was the Moorish tradition to make the city easier to defend for the locals. This makes getting lost extremely easy so make sure you get a good map from the tourist office when you first arrive.
The center of Seville is fairly compact, but the city does go out in all directions, melting into suburbs. Fortunately all of the city’s main attractions are closely bunched together in the center of the city. And most of the hostels in Seville are also bunched into this old portion of town, but not all of them. Make sure you check the location of your Seville hostel before booking because some places that wind up in the hostel listings advertise that they are close to the city center by public transportation, but saving a few Euros by staying out of the center is not worth it in Seville.
The massive cathedral is the most notable attraction in the city and there are several Seville hostels within a short walk of this area, which is also only a couple of short blocks from the main bus station and not much further from the El Mirador de Santa Justa train station.
The area just across the river from the old town area has many excellent tapas bars and good local nightlife, so being close to this area late at night is helpful. The whole central part of town is very easy to see on foot as long as you choose your hostel location wisely.
The Seville Backpacker Picasso Hostel is well located in the center and features dorm rooms with 2, 3, 4, or 6 beds, all starting around €20 per night including breakfast. It’s located between the cathedral and the river so all the great nightlife is within easy reach.
The Seville Backpackers (not the Picasso one) is not far away and also with a good location close to the best nightlife. It’s a much larger facility and features bunks in rooms with 6, 8, 10, or 12 bed each, all for around €18 per night including breakfast. All the rooms have air conditioning, an en-suite bathroom, and even a TV.
Hostal Nuevo Suizo has a central location a bit further from the cathedral, but still walking distance from everything. Their cheapest beds are in their 9-bunk dorm room for about €17 per night, but they have rooms with fewer beds for only a little more per night, and private twin rooms for €23 per person with a shared bathroom or €29 with an en-suite bathroom, and all guests get free breakfast and internet access.
